A cognitive-psychology investigation of the experience of ayahuasca and its wider implications for the study of human consciousness

In this ecounter, Benny Shanon presents an overview of his monograph “The Antipodes of the Mind”. This book consists, to its greater paer, a cartography and a systemtic analysis, from a cognitive-psychological perspective, of the special state of mind induced by ayahuasca. A large corpus of data is analyzed and a framework for their conceptual analysis is offered. The latter may also be applied to other states of mind; more general philosophical and theoretical issues are considered as well.
