Summary:

"The first part of the Thesis describes the traditional use of Ayahuasca by different ethnic groups in Amazonia and in a wider mestizo context. The second part treats the evolution of the Santo Daime from the beginning until the end of the 1990ies. The third part provides a minute description of some of the rituals the author has been partaking and an anthropological analysis of their structure. Elements of the Santo Daime rituals were compared to other cults, such as Catholicism, Spiritism and Afrobrazilian religiosities."
