NEIP's site publishes new article about Santo Daime in English
Andrew Dawson is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Politics, Philosophy and Religion at Lancaster University, England. He has degrees in religious studies, theology and social science from universities in England and the United States. Researching in the area of religion and society, his most recent book, New Era - New Religions (Ashgate, 2007), examines the rise and spread of new religiosity in Brazil. Andrew co-edits the internationally peer-reviewed journal Fieldwork in Religion, has just completed (as editor) Summoning the Spirits: Possession and Invocation in Modern Religion (IB Tauris, 2010), is currently writing an introduction to the Sociology of Religion (SCM Press, 2011), and is also working on a sociological study of Santo Daime in both its native Brazilian and international contexts.
