NEIP´s - Nucleus for Interdisciplinary Studies of Psychoactives´ - new site

Dear Friends,

With satisfaction we announce the new site of the NEIP — the Nucleus for Interdisciplinary Studies of Psychoactives — a group for research on psychoactive substances that unites scholars in the Human Sciences who promote joint reflection on the theme and adopt an ethical and political position against the reigning international prohibitionist regime.

The group joins researchers who have or have had a research focus on various aspects of the phenomenon, such as the religious use of psychoactive substances (e.g., ayahuasca, iboga, San Pedro, and coca), the secular or non-religious use of licit substances (alcohol, tobacco, coffee, etc.) and illicit ones (marijuana, cocaine, crack, ecstasy, etc.), harm reduction policies, narcotraffic, medical and media discourse, and the therapeutic uses of some of these substances.

On the NEIP site there can be found CVs, lists of publications, summaries of theses and books, participations in events, course syllabi, and texts in Portuguese, Spanish, French, and English from 23 researchers, in addition to images of psychoactive substances and of their contexts of consumption.

The site also features many unpublished articles, among which is it worth highlighting the unpublished book by Edward MacRae, available in its entirety, Guided by the moon - shamanism and the ritual use of ayahuasca in the Santo Daime religion in Brazil, a translation of the book Guiado pela Lua - xamanismo e uso ritual da ayahuasca no culto do Santo Daime (Brasiliense, 1992, out of print).

We also have a new section of literature, where there are accounts of experiences of the consumption of psychoactive substances, and another section of images of these substances, for which we accept contributions.
